LORD LUCAN ORIGINAL SIGNED CHEQUE DATED 1/4/1974 AND ORIGINAL PRESS PHOTOGRAPH

These are two very rare items.Lord Lucan disappeared on 7th November 1974 followed the fatal attack on the family nanny Sandra Rivett and an attack on Lady Lucan.Lady Lucan under oath named her attacker as her husband Lord Lucan.Much has been written about what happened to Lord Lucan but what we do know is that he was in a financial mess at the time of his disappearance. This lot helps to prove that fact ;it is a returned cheque NO. 599095 payable to A.Alexander and drawn on The Earl of Lucan`s account with bankers Coutts & Co.,440 The Strand,London WC2R 0QS.
The cheque is signed in clear biro and is made out for £800.For whatever reason the cheque was presented to the bank but it is clearly marked "Payment countermanded by telephone, awaiting drawer`s confirmation";The cheque is marked "PAID" with a bank stamp with the words "in error" hand written on the stampThe reverse of the cheque has the signature of the payee A. ALEXANDER.The narration is by Lord Lucan who has signed the cheque clearly.
The lot also includes an original Press photograph of Lord Lucan dated 1978 on the reverse together with the stamp of CAMERA PRESS LTD,Russell Court,Coram Street,London WC1.There is a typed narration stuck to the back of the photo describing Lord Lucan as "The Vanishing Earl" with a potted history of Lucan which adds the interesting idea that Lucan was "at one time assumed to be deadbut it is now widely believed that he is alive and in hiding."
Both items come with a lifetime guarantee and the successful buyer can be provided with official provenance from a top auction house giving authenticity.
A very rare and unique piece of British social history and the signature of one of the world`s most famous individuals. For further details visit :-
