A Fine Antique German Violin by Hermann Dolling Jr. after Stradivari, circa 1900

Fine antique German violin made circa 1900 after the model of Antonius Stradivarius. The violin is really beautifully made, and shows the talent of this Master Luthier. The f holes are very nicely made, the purfling is exceptionaly well made.  The oil varnish, of a delicate golden-brown color, is entirely original and in very good condition for its age. Ebony fingerboard. Highly flamed maple back, ribs, neck, and scroll. Finely grained spruce top that has a deep 3d iredescent appearance that seems to change when seen from different angles.  A very nice violin!

On the inside back can be found the original label of the Hermann Dolling workshop, "Antonius Straduarius Cremona Faciebat Anno 1681 (with the Hermann Dolling Jr Logo)". It also has 2 other logos that read "Hermann Dolling Jr."

This instrument is solid and ready to play.  It's in very good condition with typical age related signs of use and may have some scratches here or there, but still very clean for its age.  I see no open cracks or seams. Looks like a couple of hairlines in the rib next to the end pin, but very hard to see in the pics and insignificant considering its reinforced and glued to the block behind it.

Professionally set up which included: New Thomastik Dominant strings, ebony chin rest and tailpiece. Bridge is cut well and properly fitted with medium/low action for easy playing.  A quality, hand made instrument from Germany.

Nicely rich, sweet, mellow tone.
