15" GEORGE BORGFELDT G.B. Bisque Character Antique Doll with Compo Body and Period Clothing 

A bright happy expression graces the sweet face of this 15" antique character in excellent condition with bisque head incised G.B. // 6 This darling baby is on its original fully-jointed composition & wood baby body Big brown glass sleep eyes, all around painted lashes, brushstroke eyebrows, rosy cheeks, dimpled chin, and adorable double chin. George Borgfeldt & Company was located in New York City USA and founded by George Borgfeldt (b.1833 - d.1903), Marcell and Joseph L. Kahle, as a doll importer, doll assembler for American and Canadian markets and a doll distributor. Borgfeldt bisque doll heads were made for them by several German doll makers, including Simon & Halbig.
