This lens will not autofocus with : D40-D40x-D60-D3000-D3100-D3200-D3300-D5000-D5100-D5200-D5300-D5500 as these cameras do not have integrated autofocus motors in their bodies, but it will still work with manual focus and auto exposure as it has a "chip" mount. 

It will also work Nikon 35mm AF film cameras:  F80, F90/90x, F75, F70, F65, F60, F55, F50, F80, F90/90x, F101, F100, F401.
