Lens with crack or chip that goes all the way through. Restored See next photo.

Area is spot heated to melt plastic, resin is added and deprived of oxygen and a UV cure drop is mixed in.
The area is polished and the restored area or areas are stronger than the original lens. This will not crack or run.

This is a larger crack that is in the process of running or getting bigger. Next photo shows the restoration.

The same process listed above is applied but an ultra-highspeed device is also used to permanently stop the crack.
This will NOT re-crack or run. Again, these restored areas are stronger than the rest of the lens.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Does the scratches or restoration areas reduce solar performance.
A: Less than one percent. The area of minor scratches and restorations do block a bit of sunlight but
they are much less than one percent of the total area.
Q: Will the restored crack reopen or run when used or handled.
A: NO, the restored area is stronger than the rest of the lens and this process has been perfected
over a 3 year period. It is UV resistant, resistant to temperature extremes and is not affected
by cleaning, washing, or weather (humidity or rain). It is solid.
Q: Why are you selling these now?
A: These lenses have been stored in a controlled environment for a few years. We have perfected
the process of restoration and they are ready to go. Spot Fresnel Lenses are becoming very, very
rare. This gives the backyard scientist on a budget a great lens at a great price. I actually
use scratch and ding lenses in most of our Youtube videos. Long lasting and powerful!
