A great race between watchmaking firms took place in the late XIX and early XX century. There were a lot of competitors, but they are distinguished by their approach and ultimate goals. Someone quested of profit and forget about the quality, someone did not think about the money at all and just did watches with quality, uniqueness and status! As a result, things done thoroughly achieved a huge success. Good watches of luxury brands were recognition marks of kings, emperors, princes and lords. Even at that time, not everybody could impress with a unique model of a pocket watch. Of course, such watches were very expensive, but though not always money was the problem, but deficit. Some clocks could be created for up to 5 years!
So it happened that I got into the hands Omega cal 40.6L, a chic mechanism of the revolution times. Just imagine, this work of art has survived two wars! .. I got so much into the spirit, that I could not just put it into my box .. I felt a kind of power in it. I imagined how in 1917 this mechanism was shown by watchmaker to director of the OMEGA, and he nodded with a slight smile on his face ..
My friend made a watchcase.. I have found a finest craftsman and we created a design for a long time.. My old friend was an ace of watchmaking and I brought him all the details. As always he has done his work at a high level. I spent few days choosing a strap.. I was already prepared when came to get the watch. And when the final touch was made we almost cried with happiness. That was really so.. It was one million times more beautiful than I expected.
