Summer is here and retro rides and back in!!

For Sale- Fiat Superstrada 85 Cabrio, first registered April 1984 - “A” reg.

Brilliant red with black/grey interior and brand new MOT until April 13th 2012.

5 speed manual- 1497cc (just below the threshold so qualifies for the cheaper tax band) and includes the Sony single CD radio and 4 speakers.

 A brief history:-

Launched in 1983 and lasting only 2 years in the UK this was Fiats answer to the Golf Cabriolet and Escort convertible. It traded on Fiats model of very high levels of standard equipment, competitive price and was produced on a separate line for Fiat at Bertones factory.  I was told that Fiat only moved about 10,000 in this country so a combination of time, disinterest and low residual values mean that clean survivors are now very rare - in fact, when did you see any Fiat Strada on the road?

Before this one I owned a silver one and before that a brown one so I’ve had one of these “on the fleet” since 1997!!

I have owned this one since 2002 and had brilliant fun in the UK,  travelling abroad, car shows, family picnics and balmy evenings nights down the boozer. If you “get” the whole retro thing, I honestly guarantee you more fun in this than if you went out and spent £20,000 on a convertible for this summer, it is an absolute hoot to drive!

When I first bought it I fitted a brand new hood which is why it’s in such great condition. In the last 3 years its had a new starter, alternator, battery, front flex hoses and front calipers.

It has also  had some mild performance mods by way of a K&N air cleaner, front strut brace, Janspeed tailpipe and an Abarth steering wheel. I don’t know if its actually quicker than standard, but it certainly sounds like it!

Last year it also had service including oil and filter, plugs and the brake fliud changed. Apart from tax, it is ready to go.

Condition wise I would describe as very clean throughout, but please bear in mind it is 27 years old and in no way immaculate, don’t expect it to look like its just come from the showroom. There is a bit of rust on the o/s rear arch, a little bubbling at the rear wing tops and there are some dings and dents here and there etc.  I have owned three of these cars and know exactly where they rot. I can say that this is by far the best one I’ve had and it’s solid in all the ususal problem places, that is one of the reasons I have kept it so long because I know I will never find another like this again.

If you want to email me I will send you my mobile no and would be happy to walk/talk you right round the car and tell you anything about it.

It really attracts attention, its amazing how many people come up to you and say they used to have one, I guess people like to see the retro stuff in use.

This is a very sad sale but I’ve more than my fair share of laughs in it, its time for someone else to have their fun with it now.

I’m offering it with NO RESERVE, the cars is located in Bristol just two minutes from the M4/ M5 junction. You are welcome to come and look before the auction end.

Any other questions please feel free to ask!
