TERMS OF TRADING

please read, this is very important, as any bid will be taken as a full understanding and acceptance of these terms and conditions

In short it's much, much, much easier for me to re-list an unsold item, perhaps at a reduced price, than to deal with the fall out of unrealistic or unspecified expectations. All the below terms are not to create a license for me to sell on unusable rubbish or to leave buyer's hanging in the case of loss/damage - but are to help to  make all transactions precise, quick, informed, closed-ended, fair and above all mutually satisfactory - see my feedback.

DESCRIPTIONS  If an item is listed as used it is not new. All descriptions are as accurate and pertinent as possible to the best of my ability, but will necessarily contain holes and subjective assessments to things I may have missed, please study the pictures as they constitute part of the description. If you want to know more - please ask a specific question or request a relevant picture before bidding. My answer may contain subjectivity (in for example fit, compatibility, structural or aesthetic condition) you’ll be happy to accept my subjective opinion when bidding, so this will never become a subject of discussion later.

Bid happily once I’ve managed to answer your questions or provide more pics you've requested to your full satisfaction. Please try to ask questions early. Read all the answers from others' questions – they’ll constitute part of the description. I suggest you review the listing again near to it’s end as any changes or answers will constitute part of description no matter when the bid is placed or snipe is set. – This will allow any change in bidding amount or cancelation if the item is not to your requirements.  You are as happy about this during bidding

An unmentioned departure from some unspoken and imagined default standard of compatibility of fittings (sizes, threads, repairs, modifications, level of finish, etc.) will not count as a mis-description. If you don’t know what you’re looking at– please ask. You are as happy about this during bidding

DELIVERY  Despite the long time I’ve given for delivery in the listings, most items will ship in just a few days (see feedback) and will be delivered quickly and with no fuss. – that time given in the listing is to cover me for unexpected delays, backlogs, impromptu holidays/drinking binges/cycling trips, and so forth, and I’ll reserve the right to take that time with no notice (and overriding any previous agreements ) if I need to.  Delivery times are based upon my posting day and the service used. You agree to accept all niggles incurred with delivery services in good humor and to understand that they themselves have their own sets of terms and conditions (if you need these – please ask and I’ll refer you their website), and further more you wholeheartedly agree with me that there simply are no emergencies in the world of cycling parts. No guarantee is given to get a certain item for a certain date/event. If there is something you must have for a certain date then allow me to cut out the weakest link and arrange to pickup from me directly. If something’s late and you have to buy it elsewhere for a certain date /event– out transaction still stands. You are as happy about this during bidding

POSTAL INSURANCE AND LOST/BROKEN ITEMS.  All items are certified, but not tracked unless specified or requested, lost times need to be declared lost only after the post office's time to declare as lost has elapsed – you’ll be aware of this time frame by using the royal mail website or site of other courier if used.. You are as happy about this during bidding

P&P COST  There are 4 elements to P&P - postage and packing and my time and travel - take this into account when leaving feedback. I may re-use packing. All P&P are estimated to the best of my knowledge and whilst I don't intend to make profit on postage some estimates will be slightly above, some slightly below the exact price. You are as happy as I am about this during bidding. All items will be sent only to the address given on the ebay account it was bought from- if you want another address - change it in your account before paying, so that it shows in my order details for that item.

For all international postings i'm just doubling the domestic postage to make it simple. Also please note, i cannot control or take responsibility for any customs delays, or customs taxes imposed. that's between you and your own country's customs/excise dept. So the postage amount quoted is for me to send, not necessarily for you to receive it. All customs forms will be marked honestly regarding the item value and description and category - do not ask me to do otherwise. You are as happy as I am about this during bidding

RETURNS  I'll accept returns within 7 days of delivery (for a full refund including delivery postage) only if there is a catastrophic quantifiable failure in their operation/usability that constitutes an objective and demonstrable deficiency in the description. No returns accepted that relate to the buyer's changing their mind or not adequately understanding the compatibility / fit / condition of an item -( whether that be because they declined to ask questions about a point(s) made indistinct or contradictory in the description or whether they misunderstood part of the description.) You are as happy about this during bidding

POSTAGE ON FRAMES AND WHEELS

For several reasons, I need to batch frames and wheels to all go out one day per week.  So they may incur delays of a week or so in posting if not paid for immediately following auction end, as they'll have to be bounced back to the next batch. Also I need your phone number for the courier immediately upon payment-(include it in order details if it’s not as part of your address) failure to give this number WILL result in delays, and maybe extra delivery costs and possibly just complete cancellation of the transaction - they mostly will not ship packages without the number. And having to chase these phone numbers up just causes loose ends. You are, in the event of a failed delivery attempt, happy to pay any extra delivery fees / pickup from local depot as per couriers own T&C

Terms of trading specific to full working bikes

Whilst I endeavor, when selling full bikes, to make sure every item is set up to be safe and reliable and suited for purpose:

All ‘bikes’ are sold not as a single unit, but as ‘a collection of bike parts in-situ’.

Just because they work does not mean they have had a full service or renovation or are aesthetically pleasing.

No guarantees are implied or given as to longevity of use or any parts thereof.

I will help with any adjustment or alteration or replacement I reasonably can. Each bike must be inspected by the buyer upon pickup and any issues, replacements or adjustments buyer wishes to be made must be mentioned before taking it away. Forgoing of this inspection for any reason (weather, time, ability etc.) is buyer’s prerogative and deemed as an acceptance of the item.

All bike-buyers must perform their own safety checks and any adjustments needed (of both fit and technical nature) before riding - which they do so at their own risk.

Bike fit is contentious. Ask me my educated opinion of the size person a bike will fit, but this will not become part of the binding description and a reason for return / dispute later.  The measurements will be the hard facts you’ll use to make your mind up.

A special case: A bike with a slow puncture still works. Bikes described as working may rarely have slow punctures – all tyres go down in time and the length of time needed to check for very slow punctures can be prohibitive and from time to time they can sneak past me.
