Church’s Masterpiece

Church’s are reknowned for making a top-quality classic English shoe. At the top of their range, at a reasonable premium to their normal line, used to be the Masterpiece range – even better leathers put together by their most skilled craftsmen. These are a perfect example of the breed – a captoe Oxford with a gimped or zig-zag finish to the outside edges of each piece of leather. The colour is a cherry brown with a good amount of red in it, and it is clear from looking at the leather that it is of superior quality, almost akin to Edward Green. When available these shoes sold for about 50% more than the standard line.

The shoes are in very good condition, taking on a stunning patina with age – there is one small dark spot on the uppers and some slight discolouration around the toecaps, and the soles have a good amount of life left in them. Church’s will resole and refurbish the shoes for you as required, meaning they will last decades.

The shoes are sized as a UK 11F, and the outsole measures as follows:

Length: 12.7”

Width: 4.5”

New a similar pair would cost upwards of £475, but this auction starts at 99p with no reserve and runs for 5 days, so this is a rare opportunity to grab a bargain! Please note trees, boxes or shoe bags pictured are not included.

Just a quick addendum - these are actually Masterclass, not Masterpiece (the latter being Grenson's term for their finest shoes). No difference in the quality, I just got myself confused!
