For Sale:- 1972,
tax excempt Triumph Stag 3.0 4 speed manual with overdrive with original
triumph V8 engine for restoration. A very good opportunity to purchase one of
these increasingly popular cars .It has been stored and unused for some years
and has recently been brought out of storage. It hasn’t run for some years, but
the heads were removed to free the bottom end. Once the surface of the pistons
were cleared, the pistons moved freely 2 head bolts sheared in the process of
removing the heads, which is quite a common fault on a unit that hasn’t seen
light for some years. The bottom end of the engine was totally overhaled 30K
miles prior to the car being laid up before being stored in a dry garage.
The car has
lumenition ignition, stainless steel exhaust. The car is surprisingly solid with
original floorpans, sills and opening panels. Most of the panels are in good
including the bootlid, bonnet and door panels. There is a little surface rust on
panels, but the passenger side inner and outer wings will need repairs to them.
The flloorpans are all original and appear to be solid, save for some surface rust on the underside which will require cleaning back and treating. The only repairs that are required are the outriggers, and will require replacing. Both the inner and outer sills both sides seem very solid, again with only surface rust. The suspension turrets, floorpans and boot floor are all solid and will require minimal tidying.
The interior
carpets will need replacing, but all the woodwork looks good. All the seat
fabric looks in good order, just a cosmetic clean up will be required.
The softop
and frame are in excellent order, as is the factory hard top
This
vehichle has NO MOT OT TAX.The V5 is present.
It is SOLD
AS SEEN for restoration and will require trailering or transporting away.It
will serve as an excellent base for a rewarding restoration. It looks far worse
in the pictures but essentially wants some small remedial work before
preparation for a good quality repaint.
Please feel free to view the car before bidding. The car is located in Preston Lancs. Contact by email initially, and I will get back to you within 24 hours to arrange a viewing.
Please bear in mind, the car has not been run for some years and will need trailoring to its new home.
This car is a good solid example, not the usual rot box, and is probably worth more stripping and selling parts individually as all panels, doors bonnet, boot etc, hard top and soft top alone would fetch more than the car as a whole, however, as it has a solid floorpan and chassis, and due to the fact it is tax exempt, in my view it would be wrong to strip the car for parts.
The listing has no reserve or starting price.
A deposit of £100 is required within 3 days of the bidding ending. Final payment either by cash on collection, or cheque 1 week prior to collection.
Please do not bid if you are outside the UK.
The car is advertised elsewhere, so I reserve the right to end the auction if sold elsewhere
