Extremely RARE! German Leitz Leica m39 Xenon 5cm F:1.5 lens optical units, Minus the helicoid metal body & diaphragms. The lenses were coated at some time later, in a Bluish- purplish coating. History 2. Sold by Edmund Scientific Salvage Corp just after WW2 to: Mr. R.G. Treuting of Bell Telephone Laboratories in Murray Hill, New Jersey, see photo for provenance. Box is NOT included. the 11c stamp for a big box says a lot about prices back then. Used in the research dept. as Macro lenses taking photos of very early solid state diode & transistor experiments. Bell labs had there own mounts made, thus no Leica body or mount. MECHANICALLY: High precision machined aluminum mounts Custom made by RAF Camera of eBay for the Sony Full Frame Line A7, A7r, A7s as a 5cm F;1.5 lens with focus from infinity to 12" is possible. Since their threads are 0.5mm pitch it takes a lots of turns too do the range of focus. Also will work on NEX 5,6,7, Aps-c as a E-Mount then will be 75mm F:1.5 I haven't tested the lenses on my Nex 7 yet, but i am sure the cropping will benefit the edge resolution softness by eliminating it.. The whole package weighed in at 8 oz. including a filter ring at 39.5mm to series VI Kodak hood to hold it. I had to push in the indents slighty to attach to the front threads which are 41mm and fine pitch. Xenon's used a special sunshade that's rather expensive these days on eBay. Focus is Clock-wise the inner and outer fine threads screwing into one another. We designed the mount this way as finding the TRUE focal length for the Sony flange to to chip distance with these optical units was hard to say the least. I personally worked on this project for five years, but only in the last year was I finally able to get a design that was good from infinity to <12". I guess you can say this is a Makro-Xenon lens mount because it is! A metal chrome Leitz 43mm lens cap will fit the top nicely as I tested that concept. A regular Sony e mount Back cap will also fit the back of the mount. I have place a red color into the mounting notch in the mount. A small matched allen wrench is included, although, I personally don't see any reason for it? The lens is very sturdy in its mount and made with ultra high precision. OPTICALLY: Bluish-Purplish coating No haze, NO fungus, CLEAR lens, seems to be coated on a # of elements. I think this is NOT the same coating as applied to the Summarit 5cm F:1.5 , when held side by side under a light My Xenon's are better coated and reflect my light bulb back in different colors than the Summarit I also own. The lens units are the best Xenon's I have ever seen, as they were in storage for over 50 years. The 81A filter I used in the the Kodak series VI hood and filter ring gave me one of the best colored fall shots using the badly made aluminum foil circle i tried too make to the size of F:4, its crude, but it works very well.
Lens Beauty: The white lettering on the black ring is well defined in sharpness of lettering. all the serial #'s will be in the 491xxx range or 1939 build, so these are WW2 wartime lenses. I did not take the lenses apart to clean them, They didn't need it. USE:On Sony E-mount DSLM Cameras only! Full Frame or APS-C chip size!
