Why is it the BEST, the fit is perfect and not loose like others and it clicks into position and just won't come off very easy so you save $. Also if you look at other Eyecups from Hoodman brand their Eyecups center is round and making it much harder to see the EVF corners, my NEWEST V3 Eyecups (Shipping NOW) is a rectangle opening and many users find that it's a whole new ballgame with my V3 Eyecup! This soft oversized oval-shaped Eyecup improves the image quality and visibility through the electronic viewfinder by sealing out all SUN and extraneous light and makes it much more comfortable when holding the camera's viewfinder against the face. It can be rotated 360º to accommodate both of the photographers left or right eyes as well as horizontal and vertical shooting positions.
Also, this Eyecup can help reduce camera shake because you press the camera towards your face and not only making a better light seal it also offers better support for the camera and can improve handheld image quality!
This Eyecup extends from the viewfinder somewhat and works well for photographers who wear eyeglasses because it rests evenly on the eyeglass surface, blocking stray light and providing a clearer image. This soft yet durable rubber design is comfortable for those who do and do not wear eyeglasses and it will help prevent scratching or damage to your glasses.

NOTE: Since any Eyecups made do extend the viewing distance from your eye to the viewfinder you will loose seeing the corners in the viewfinder, glasses increase that distance even more so if that is a problem please keep using the factory eyepiece. Sorry about that I just want, to be honest, and I think it's worth the loss of the corners to block the outside light.
It mounts easily and securely to the back of the Sony's viewfinder, and it's easy to take on and off and does not block opening or closing of the LCD screen.
