The Handmade "Antique" Satin Trimmed Kimono Coat
Not to be confused with any of the mass produced much cheaper intarsia variations.
This is the coat that was the inspiration for the entire collection
Years ago when we purchased this coat, one of our best clients who also happens to be an expert on Antique Kimono explained the technique to us. The only details we can recall is that layers and layers of fabric are bonded and then hand cut to create the most stunning patterns.
Tom Ford stated that Antique Kimono was his inspiration for the entire collection.
This stunning "cut" technique is on the entire coat. Front, back and interior since the coat is unlined all but for the satin sleeves.
Satin pockets and padded satin sleeve cuffs. Sheer organdy coat bottom.
The entire coat is intentionally made to appear antique. All very raw deconstructed seams. This is all part of the design, part of the beauty. New and never worn, all tags in place. Size IT 38. The runway leather trimmed Obi is included.
A small fortune at retail. This was a true runway item and made in in very limited quantity. A rare find and truly collectable. Though part of the F/W collection, the coat is weighty but not really made for warmth.... much more of a drop dead evening coat you wear in the limo.
