This eye-pleasing lighter is one of the hardest Dunhills to find. It is the Original Unique Style - Straight Arm Club on a Base. According to Davide Blei and Luciano Bottoni as chronicled in their informative book; “The Dunhill Petrol Lighter”, this Rare Models were first seen in 1927-28. However, due to its RARITY, they were uncertain if this model was made in both the A and B sizes. This one is the B size, with dimensions same as the one in their book; nearly 4 inches tall -100 mm. It is the earlier single wheel and straight lift arm version. Interestingly a careful observation of its bottom reveals a controversy. It indicates that it was made in Switzerland and also in England. An explanation for this may be that the actual lighter body was made in Switzerland and the Base was made in England. I will ask Luciano if he is aware of this and has any info on it, if so I will add it to the listing.
This vintage Dunhill is in very good condition; its lift arm is tight and its spring is good. The extra attractive Snake Skin cover is nearly perfect. While its silver plate base has some minor handling marks - non that detract, its plating is mostly intact. To insure perfect working condition, a new flint has been installed for your convenience.
