WONDERFUL, ANTIQUE, CIRCA 1800, VERGE FUSEE AUTOMATON POCKET WATCH.

A wonderful and early verge fusee automaton pocket watch with two independent automaton functions. This watch keeps excellent time by antique "verge fusee watch" standards. There are two automaton functions:

1) A walking scene featuring villagers walking through the picturesque farmyard

2) A windmill that rotates as the watch runs

The large 53mm diameter (excluding stem & bow) solid silver case is in very nice condition. The hinges close nice & tight. The dial features a hand painted polychrome enamel dial that is also in very nice condition.  There is one tiny chip next to the number three marker that is difficult to see and also around the walking scene automaton function.  Otherwise, the original and un-repaired enamel dial is in outstanding condition.

The movement is a fire gilt, full plate verge movement with chain and fusee, garland like cutout and engraved balance cock and a silver regulator disc.  The watch winds easily, runs and the automaton functions also work properly.
