Offered for sale today is a rare, beautiful and completely 100% unmolested, unpolished original 2.5 million serial number 1968 Rolex Submariner Ref. 5513 "Meters First" w/ tropical gilt dial and rare faded grey Ghost Insert with fat fonts. It is featured here in stainless steel w/ all original parts including the Jubilee bracelet, acrylic crystal, dial and bezel insert w/ original Cal. 1570 self winding automatic movement in excellent condition and is very, very correct. The original condition of this item is very good with age appropriate golden patina on the dial and smooth even wear on the watch. This watch has been only been cleaned & serviced, it keeps consistently accurate time and has never been polished. This is a rare and highly prized Rolex model. Perhaps the most distinctive and valuable feature of this Submariner is the gilt tropical dial and ghost insert with the fat fonts. Produced from 1962 to 1990, a small batch of the Submariner 5513 models featured the gilt "golden scripted dial" as opposed to the normal white. Gilt dials when having become "tropical" with age on Rolex watches especially combined with ghost inserts are rare indeed and have become highly valued and sought after by collectors. Early James Bond films featuring George Lazenby wore a reference 5513 with an oyster bracelet in parts of "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", as did Roger Moore in his first two movies "Live and Let Die" and "The Man with the Golden Gun". These unique original features of the Submariner 5513 make the watch much more rare and thus worth considerably more. The dial also features the lower line of script that reads "meters first", as opposed to most others featuring "feet first" when referring to its depth resistance rating of 200 meters / 660 ft. No box or papers and fits up to a 7.5" inch wrist size. Purchase w/ absolute confidence. Please visit my eBay store and please read my "seller" feedback, we take your satisfaction very seriously.
