Vintage Signed C. (Cheryl) Naha Nampeyo, HOPI Native Indian hand painted pottery small ant honey pot. This maker comes from the famous Nampeyo family from the Hopi tribe.  This pot is a wonderful southwest piece of art pottery with a typical Hopi design.  I believe that this is an early work because it closely resembles pots made by Daisy while Cheryl's later works differ to some degree.  Cheryl often painted pots for Daisy in addition to her own work. During this time both artists signed their work, this pot is only signed by Cheryl but still has the look of earlier work.  As with many children of the Rio Grand Pueblos she attended the St. Catherine,s Indian School in Santa Fe.  She was married to Pasqual Tafoya and learned the art of pottery making from her grandmother.   

Cheryl is the daughter of Shirley Nampeyo and the granddaughter of Daisy Nampeyo. 

Condition: Used, Great condition, cosmetically good with no sign of scratches, no repairs or damage that I can see.
