This is a fabulous and original iconic ASTRO copper Lava Lamp made by Crestworth Ltd of Poole, Dorset, who later became 'Mathmos' Lava Lamps

They were designed by Edward Craven Walker in the 1960s and was very typical of the new styling and creative designs of that iconic era, made for trendy homes!

It produces unique variations of mesmerising wax shapes every time it is used!

When switched on the wax is warmed by the inner light bulb (max 40 W). There is also a metal coil at the bottom which helps the wax to combine back together.

As you can see, the liquid in the bottle does not fill the entire space, this is normal for these wider necked original lamps.

The stand and the bottle cap cover are both made of anodised copper finish.

The underneath base is made of bakerlite. It is stamped with 'CRESTWORTH LTD POOLE ENGLAND  - PATENT No. 1034255 OTHERS PENDING'

It measures 44 cm tall x 13 cm at base approximately.

There is a long black wire which has a ON/OFF switch

Overall a great opportunity to acquire one of the earliest British made lava lamps that is in lovely condition and good working order
