An Original World War Two 'Dirty Dozen' British Army Watch Made by Omega with Commando Hands.

This is an original British Army 'WWW' (Wrist Watch Waterproof) service watch by the Swiss manufacturer, Omega made in in circa 1944. The watch has a 15 jewel Swiss movement and is one of the so-called, 'Dirty Dozen' of contracted manufacturers.

The watch has a nickle silver case with a contract screw case-back.  The original black dial is marked with the Omega symbol and the British army arrow.

The dial has the 1-12 hours marked with a 60-second markings and luminous hour markings.

The watch has the original Commando Hands which are more rugged and broader than standard hands.  These were designed to allow wearer a 'quick glance' in difficult wartime conditions.  These are in good original condition except for the loss of a small area of luminous material on the hour hand.

The screw back of the watch is marked:

The serial number 10687040 confirms that this was a 1944 production watch.  Omega watches from 1944 all had a 10,000,000 serial number.

Please see the following website which confirms the Omega serial number by year:

The watch is in good working order with the dial and both hands being in good condition.

The watch includes a later leather strap.

Overall this is a lovely, original watch in good working order.

The watch came from a former owner who purchased the watch in the 1960's.

I have not had the watch serviced but it keeps good time.
