Sony A6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera

Sony's Alpha A6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera is versatile and advanced. A mirrorless camera featuring a 24.3MP APS-C-sized Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor and BIONZ X image processor, it produces high-resolution still images and Full HD movies with marked low-light quality and sensitivity to ISO 25600. The image processor also lends itself to continuous shooting up to an impressive 11 fps and an intelligent Fast Hybrid AF system that uses both phase and contrast detection methods to quickly and accurately acquire focus.

Live view monitoring, image playback, and menu navigation, are a breeze with the large rear monitor and detailed electronic viewfinder available. The 3.0" 921k-dot XtraFine LCD screen features a tilting design to facilitate easier use from high or low angles and incorporates WhiteMagic technology for easier viewing in bright conditions. The 0.39" 1,440k-dot Tru-Finder OLED EVF offers 100% frame coverage and a refined optical design to provide a natural viewing perspective and magnification. The A6000 body also houses a configurable user interface, built around several customizable buttons and two control dials, for efficient and intuitive access to frequently used camera settings. A Multi Interface shoe is available for attaching external flashes, continuous lights, or microphones.

With built-in Wi-Fi connectivity and support for NFC-enabled devices, the A6000 camera can be controlled remotely, and image share with linked mobile devices. In addition to these base features, with firmware version 2.0 users will have access to the XAVC S format for Full HD 1080p video at 24, 30, and 60 fps. This format will dramatically improve video quality by allowing the camera to capture images at a high bit rate of 50 Mbps, which holds more information than AVCHD for fewer artifacts. Along with this, users will be required to use Class 10 or faster SDXC memory cards with a capacity of 64GB or greater.

Sony 16-50mm Lens

The Sony 16-50mm F/3.5-5.6 OSS Alpha E-mount Retractable Zoom Lens (SELP1650) has a focal length range of 24-75mm in the 35mm format equivalency. Covering shooting lengths from true wide angle to standard portrait length, it's a great day-to-day lens, especially since its retractable design keeps it very compact. When powered on, the lens expands, but in its off position the lens is only 1.2" (30mm) which will fit in your pocket. When expanded, it has a surprisingly large zoom range and access to its dual-function control ring for manual focus and zooming. Its Power Zoom capability in AF mode and Internal Stepping Motor provide, fast, smooth and quiet autofocus which is helpful when shooting video with this lens.

With a Sony E-mount, this lens is compatible with APS-C-format mirrorless cameras.

Built-in Optical SteadyShot IS system reduces the effect of camera shake which is particularly problematic when tracking moving subjects in video or shooting photos in low-light. The OSS provides approximately 4-stops of shutter speed correction to help create blur-free images no matter the shooting conditions. Four Aspherical elements and one ED element correct for curved perspective at wide-angle lengths and chromatic aberration at telephoto lengths to provide sharp, high contrast imaging across the entire frame.
