For the luminosity to work, you need to let the clock "charge" - similar to solar lights, the clock face needs to be exposed to light, (natural light in your home is fine), so that the luminous hands can store brightness.

Once the clock has been exposed for a reasonable length of time you will see the hands illuminate at night in the dark. Do not expect the light to be bright straight out the box, but watch it perform better over a few days.
