Offered in this book are several
products containing asbestos. Some of these items include the following:
Asbestos Fibre - washed for use with
Gooch crucibles, per pound.
Asbestos Board (Millboard); Asbestos
Board, Cloth, Cord, Asbestos Fibre, Gloves, Mittens,
Pads, Paper, and Tape.
Labconco cabinets were available with Colorlith tops.
Macalaster lab furniture came with the option of Colorlith or Colorceran counter tops. Although not stated in this catalog these two tops are proprietary products of Johns-Manville that were composed of asbestos fiber and cement.
Duplex and Single Electric Heaters –
used asbestos fiber insulation or a cement asbestos base.
Electric Micro Kjeldahl Digestor/Digestion Rack-
made of electrobestos/Marinite shelf construction. Marinite was a J-M product composed of asbestos
cement.
Blue M Magni-whirl Utility Oil Bath - transite insulation on the bottom.
Precision-Thelco Gravity Convection Drying Oven - “Walls are built of 1/4”
thick transite.
Grieve Gravity Convection Oven –
made with ample asbestos insulation.
Labline Radiant Heat Laboratory Oven - Marinite between inner and outer walls
Labline Forced Draft Laboratory Oven
- Marinite heat barrier breaks metal contact and prevents heat induction
Gravity, Blue M, Single Wall Ovens
used a 3/8 inch transite wall. (Note: Transite is a form of asbestos board)
Single Wall Large Capacity Oven –
made with ½” thick asbestos marinite walls.
Electric Drying Oven Thermostatic Control - made with an
outside hard asbestos sheathing.
Electric Drying Oven Thermostatic Control Double Door - used an asbestos gasket.
Flash & Fire Test Apparatus - made with an asbestos slab.
Improved Army Medical Type Hot Air Sterilizer – made with an asbestos gasket door seal
and exterior of hard asbestos.
Blue M Magni-Whirl Water Baths - were made with 1" of asbestocel insulation.
Boekel Water Baths - space between walls was packed with aircell asbestos for minimum heat loss.

Book Condition:
The
book is in GOOD condition!! The book has normal wear from use. There are no locations of writing, underlining or
highlighting of the text that I could find from a cursory
review. Binding is tight & square with no loose pages. The pages
have some browning due to age. It's still a good used book with plenty
of life left in it!!
