Independent Reviews

There's no doubting the classic car buying wisdom contained within [this book] … Discovery's popular Wheeler Dealers has brought a great deal of fresh blood to the classic world. As such, Know How! is aimed squarely at the first-time classic buyer. In this role, it is perfect … taking a something-for-everyone approach, flagging up pitfalls and debunking a few myths. There are model-specific buyer's guide books out there for the truly committed that render Know How! a lightweight. However, as a way to turn a fleeting interest in classics into a deep and rewarding hobby, it's far more accessible. Give copies to your non-classic-owning mates and they'll understand you better.

This is a good little book and well worth the money … it really does exactly what it says on the front cover and gives you some real inside and useful information. Recommended.

It's bound like a Beano annual, and the cover looks quite cartoony, but don't let that fool you. The contents impart Mike's knowledge from a lifetime in the motor trade in the same style that's made him famous on the TV ... shot through with Mike's humour and easy style. It's not heavy going and if you start reading it you probably will carry on to the end. ... It's an enjoyable book which you can read through and then come back and refer to individual chapters as and when the moment takes you. But, beware, it can induce potentially wallet denting sessions on eBay. I found myself looking up Mk1 Escorts and Minis after reading it. Thoroughly recommended.

Amazon.co.uk customer review

I bought this book being a major fan of wheely dealers and trading up and I love it, Mike really knows his onions when it comes to cars and I was not disappointed. His cockney charm really shines through in this thoughtful autobiographical muse, I can't wait to get into buying and selling motors now, perhaps one day I'll be as well known as the great man himself.
