BETTWS-Y-COED AND MOEL SIABOD, FROM THE LLUGWY.
The "Station, or Place in the Wood,' as Bettws-y-Coed may be translated, is one of the most beautifully-situated villages in Wales, every picture exhibition testifying to the charm which its neighbourhood exerts over landscape artists. The Llugwy, the Lledr, the Conway, and the Machno all form junctions within a mile or two. Our view on the Llugwy, very close indeed to Bettws, shows one of the softer aspects of these lovely river-valleys. Bettws itself lies high. Near the station is an old still-used church with some very fine yews in the churchyard The Royal Oak Inn has a signboard painted by David Cox but this is now carefully preserved in the hall Not one mountain-top can be seen from the village itself; but from our standpoint the towering mass o Moel Siabod, 2,865 feet high, appears about seven miles away.
