RARE Variant Cover

This is one of the rarest TMNT comics out there. Only 500 copies were printed for the New York Comic Con in 1985 and this is the true first printing. Subsequent printings had a corrected cover with Lairds Photo in blue lettering and not white.

The scans are of the actual issue that we have for sale (not a stock image).

This copy had been in a collection (still in the original bag) since 1985 and belonged to a friend of ours. We know it to be authentic. We sent it in to CGC and they graded it VF 8.0 apparent trimmed (apparent but not conclusive). We honestly believe that it was not trimmed as we know the history of the book. There is nothing you can see from looking at it to indicate that it was. Remember, these were rush produced for the comic con and perhaps hand bound. There wasn’t a lot of quality control as these were not printed at a traditional comic printer. The issue that CGC may have had with the book is most likely from a bindery issue that happened at the time of printing. 

We had removed it from the CGC case to send it to CBCS for a second opinion, but unfortunately they do not grade books that are this size. So now it is removed from the case and we are selling it raw as is. The book presents very nicely and looks like a strong VF as it was originally graded 8.0.
