This wonderful vintage Danish sisal rope lion was intended to be a toy, but has become a rare collectible. The lion figure was a collaboration between Jørgen Bloch and famed Danish master of toy design, Kay Bojesen. These fabulous lions are increasingly hard to find in such good condition. The lion comes complete with a tufted tail, full mane, eyes, and sweet little ears. His whiskers are little sparse on the left side which adds character to this collectible. The body and tail of the lion are twisted and braided rope with knots for each foot and heart shaped face. His tail tip is a rich dark brown. The mane is darker brown than the body and sheds a bit when touched. I was given this lion as child by my father after he returned from a business trip to Copenhagen in the mid-1960s and it has been on my shelf since. The lion's body without the tail measures approximately 7.5" long and he is about 5.5" tall from the top of his mane to the table.
