DRAMATICALLY CARVED, SUPERB PERSIAN BLADE MADE OF DAMASCUS WATERED STEEL - BLACK WOOTZ (also known as kara taban or kara kharassan wootz). INTENSIVE HIGH CONTRAST PATTERN THROUGHOUT ENTIRE BLADE.

BLADE IS DECORATED ON BOTH SIDES WITH TRUE GOLD INLAID CARTOUCHES AND KOFGARY ARABIC CALLIGRAPHY. ALSO TRACES OF GOLD KOFGARY CALLIGRAPHY ALONG THE SPINE OF THE BLADE ON ONE SIDE. MOST OF THE GOLD IS WORN OFF.

BLADE IS PROBABLY PERSIAN AND DATES TO 18TH CENTURY.
