100% Mulberry Silk Comforter / Duvet / Quilt Core Filling with
Cotton Mesh Cover
Why silk?
Simply put, it is COMFORTABLE! Just COMFORTABLE!
The reason why? Because it comes from protein fiber that has
excellent bio-compatibility and affinity with human skin. This soft, delicate
fabric is all natural, free of any harsh chemicals. You never know how
comfortable it is until you actually wear silk next to your skin, and then,
you’ll never part with it. The comfortable sensation is incredible when it runs
over your bare skin. You just want it to be on every inch of your body; you
just want to have it every minute in your life. Due to its smooth texture, it
has the lowest friction and irritating index to the human skin among all the
fibres in the world. Your skin loves it; your sleep improves.
Why core filling?
Core filling with
cotton mesh protection gives people another option to choose a removable duvet
cover they like, polyester, cotton or silk. And it is much easier to maintain
because all you need to wash is the cover, not the duvet. For the utmost
comfort, a silk cover is highly recommended.
Most liked from ancient times till nowadays
Silk has been liked by queens and kings and
emperors since the ancient times. It was originally reserved for the Emperors
of China for their own use and gifts to others. In the ancient era, silk
from China was the most lucrative and sought-after luxury item traded across
the Eurasian continent and many civilizations, such as the ancient Persians,
benefited economically from trade.
Presidents and celebrities nowadays are no
exception. The gift given to the former
US president George W. Bush Jr. when the couple visited China were a silk
comforter and silk robes. The Chinese Chairman Hu Jintao at that time presented
him with a copy of “Master Sun's Art of War” with silk cover. Bush’s father
George H. W. Bush, the 41st President of the United States, bought 7
silk robes at a time! When the former president of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai
visited China, he and his wife bought 9 silk scarves just in one market. What
Serena Williams bought in China was also a silk comforter. Endless list …
Expensive in western countries
Because of its texture and lustre, silk
rapidly became a popular luxury fabric. But western people do not know silk.
They don’t know silk is an all season product; they don’t know that silk will
keep them warm and more comfortable in winter. “No, no silk. It’s too cold in
winter.” Unfortunately, business people
who travelled to China got a silk by chance and they loved it. Rich people got
a silk present and they became addicted to it. That’s why we see silk products
are sold in western countries at a sky-high price, just for catering for these
people. You do see silk comforters for sale at some big boxes, but in order to
persuade people to shell out more than 100 bucks on a silk comforter, the
seller has come up with smart solutions to balance the quality with the price.
I can assure you, with the same amount of money, you won’t get a silk comforter
in a big box that has the same quality as in my store.
Best silk comes from China.
Silk fabric was first developed in ancient
China. The earliest example of silk fabric is from 3630 BC. Archaeologists
discovered intricately woven and dyed silk textiles dated to roughly 2,500
years ago.
Chinese people know silk best and the demand
is huge. Don’t feel surprised when you see almost every Chinese person around
you has some kind of silk products. Consequently, the scientific research is
financially supported by the country and in return, helped the silk industry
become the most mature and advanced in the world. Their knowledge and
techniques are incomparable by other countries. When you see some silk products
made by other big brands or made in other advanced countries in the world,
don’t be fooled - they all come from China, just re-tagged for higher profits.
Simply because they do not have the industry! People in other places in the
world do not understand silk as well as Chinese people do and the demand is
small. Who can spend money on the scientific research, on the techniques
revolution, on the machinery improvement, etc. on something that people do not
want? How can you make good products without a solid industry behind you? Their
standard? Stop the joke!
Amazing Features and Benefits of Mulberry Silk
· Allergy
resistant
Due to its natural hypoallergenic properties, silk is an excellent choice, or maybe
the only choice for people who suffer from allergies due to dust mites, mold or
mildew. Being certified asthma &
allergy friendly, it is a proven barrier against allergens, dust mites and
pet dander. It is 100% organic, never treated with harsh chemicals. This is
because the silk threads are incredibly thin and soft on their own so they
don’t need to undergo the harsh treatment most synthetic fabrics endure. That’s
why both allergists and allergy-sufferers recommend silk bedding for comfort
and peace of mind.
· Natural
insect repellent
For practical use, silk is excellent as
clothing that protects from many biting insects that would ordinarily
pierce clothing, such as mosquitoes and horseflies.
· Breathable
material that adjusts to temperature fluctuations
Known for strong ventilation and moisture
absorption which aids in menopause comfort, mulberry silk is one of the best
body temperature regulating materials for sleeping. It is a porous, pure and
natural fiber that adjusts to your body temperature. It
is surprisingly breathable and efficiently wicks your sweat away when you
become too hot. When combined with mulberry silk duvet, silk cover provides you
with a very cozy night's sleep.
· Silk is not only
for summer; it is for winter, too.
Silk's absorbency makes it comfortable to
wear in warm weather and while active. Its low conductivity keeps warm air
close to the skin during cold weather. It’s the only fabric that makes you
cool in summer and warm in winter.
Linen is cool in summer but too cold in winter; wool and down are warm in
winter but unbearably hot in summer. Cotton might be an all season product, but
it is not as breathable as silk, so when you sweat, you’ll find cotton very
sultry and uncomfortable on your wet skin. We no longer use cotton on sports
wears. Silk, on the contrary, will keep you dry.
Silk is a poor conductor of
electricity and thus susceptible to static cling, making it a good choice
in a dry and cold weather.
When people think of buying a comforter for
winter, they tend to opt for a down filled one. The
reason is simple: it is warm. There is no mistake in that.
The reason that people don’t buy silk
comforter for winter is also simple: it’s too cold, which is totally wrong. People
who say silk is cold in winter have never used silk. Don’t blame you. Western
people don’t know silk. Look at Chinese. Chinese people wear silk scarves in
winter; they’ve never got their neck frozen. Ladies in China wear super thin
silk long johns underneath their leggings. Their legs certainly know what is
warm and what is not.
If you compare the down comforter with a silk
comforter to find which is warmer, of course the down takes the lead. But are
we talking about sleeping in the snow? Are we talking about a room that is
almost 0℃? If so, go for a
down comforter, for sure. But if your room temperature is around 20℃, then there is
no point of talking about which is warm which is not because even a medium
weight silk comforter will keep you warm. With a silk cover, your sleep
experience would be like heaven because the silk cover is far more comfortable than the cotton cover and, to
your surprise, warmer than the cotton
cover.
Let me share a secret with you: In order to
make you cool in summer, you need to wear silk next to your skin and in order
to keep you warm in winter, again you need to wear silk next to your skin.
· Advantages
of silk comforter over down comforter
When talking about comfortability, health
benefits and all-season features, silk will win a complete victory over down
because it breathes and adjusts to your body temperature to prevent from over
heat. It combats allergy and house mites, which is super beneficial to people
with special needs. It has a soft drape that contours to your body,
making you comfortable and keeping you warm. Plus, silk filling will never run
out of the cover as down filling tends to do. Safer to use, isn’t it?
Mulberry silk vs. tussur silk (wild
silk)
Mulberry silk and tussur (or tussah) silk are
all natural silk, but they are different. Mulberry silk comes from domesticated
silkworms whose silk is much thinner than tussur silk, also known as wild silk,
thus producing higher quality and is used on haute couture. It is more
expensive than the tussur silk. If you see certain silk is for sale at
incredibly low price, make sure you understand what silk it is.

Pair is a good idea.
It is hard for one single comforter
to suit all seasons. In summer you need a thin one, in winter you need a thick
one and in spring and fall you need something in between. We cannot have 3
comforters; that’s too costly. But we can have a pair: a thin one and a thick
one, thin for summer, thick for spring and fall and two joined together for
winter. I have some listings that offer single comforters as well as paired
comforters. The pair is joined with a hook so that the upper layer won’t fall. Isn’t
that a smart idea?
