Ordinary Volume Control will be degraded with age , temperature change (especially in Tube Amp) since ordinary one is formed by touching circular carbon powdered tracks. It is the reason why the Hi-End equipment always uses Stepped Potentiometer. Q : What is the difference with GOLD Plated ? A : Durable and Low Contact Impedence , and the most important is the clear sound image. Q : Does it make "POP" sound between steps ? A : No, the gaps between contact is modified to "S" shape to eliminate the "POP" sound , i.e. first contact (close) before cut off (open).
