Old seals perish and crack.
Over time the o ring seals on your fittings will perish and wear.
The first signs are nicks in the seal - these can easily be seen if removed and stretched.
Eventually the o rings split and cause a leak - in time the o rings fall off altogether - either way the result is leaking connectors.
