What is Lactic Acid? 

Lactic acid is a alpha hydroxy acid- AHA- found naturally derived from milk. It stimulates the skin's natural renewal process to promote skin regeneration, resulting in a more youthful appearance while also combating acne and the build up of excess oil on the skin's surface.

How does Lactic Acid work?

Lactic acid works by dissolving the "glue" that binds the dead cells together on the surface of the skin and get rid of the dead, dull-looking cells from the skin surface, revealing the fresh cells underneath. This process also works to cleanse the skin of sebaceous oils and bacteria which can cause acne and other troublesome skin problems. Lactic acid also stimulates the living cells in your skin to reactivate the natural renewal process, which leads to an immediate improvement in the smoothness and radiance of your skin. 

Which Strength to use?

Level 1: 20%  Lactic Acid Peel:  Maintenance peel that can be used every few days, or as needed, to keep pores clear and oily skin under control.

Level 2: 40% Lactic Acid Peel:  Light peel that is highly effective in controlling excess oil output and deep cleansing the pores. It should not be used more than 1-2 times per week.

Level 3: 60% Lactic Acid Peel: Medium peel that is for use only after you have acclimated your skin to the 40% peel. Should not be use more than 1 time per week.

Level 4: 80% Lactic Acid Peel: Stronger deeper peel that is for use only after you have acclimated your skin to the 60% peel. Should not be use more than 1 time per week.

ACNE CLIENTS: You are beginning your treatments with pores that are congested/clogged with embedded dirt, dead skin cells and sebum.  As you begin your treatments the sebum just under the surface will likely emerge as blemishes. This is normal. Breakouts may seem more pronounced since the acid is cleaning the pores more quickly than with regular cleansing products. Typically within the first 3 weeks, the skin begins to show improved clarity with very few breakouts.  Please try to be patient during this time. Deep cleansing and exfoliation is a "process" which takes some time to work. Misuse can result in burns and hyper-pigmentation. Please follow all instructions in the pamphlet included with the peel.

SUN ALERT: 

Clients should be aware that by using lactic acid or other peeling products, that your skin will be more photo sensitive. It is recommended that a sunscreen of at least 15 SPF or higher, be worn while using this product and for at least one week after you discontinue use. Limiting sun exposure and using sunscreen may reduce skin caner, skin aging and other harmful effects of the sun.
