MORE FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS TEACHER'S EDITION ~ 1952~ IN VERY GOOD + CONDITIONThis is a TEACHER'S EDITION for The New More Friends and Neighbors reader copyright 1952. It is from the 1950s Dick and Jane Series and was used in the second half of second grade. GREAT GIFT FOR A BABYBOOMER!
This is the second grade Dick and Jane reader of The "New" More Friends and Neighbors used in the 1950s. It is an updated version of the one used in the 1940s. If you grew up with Dick and Jane Readers as a child, you will probably remember some of these cute stories. And they will bring back the childhood memories! For example, do you remember the Three Billy Goats Gruff? Or Why The Bear Has A Short Tail? The First Woodpecker? These are all in here - along with many other old favorites! This book is two books in one! The first section is the complete Teacher's Guidebook and the second section is the complete children's reader More Friends and Neighbors with the color illustrations and text. This wonderful second grade Dick and Jane reader section More Friends and Neighbors has 240 pages of the many now-classic Dick and Jane stories. It was published by Scott, Foresman and Company in 1952 and written by William S. Gray, Marion Monroe, A. Sterl Artley and May Hill Arbuthnot. It was illustrated by the famous Dick and Jane artist Keith Ward and a few lesser known illustrators: Ellen Segner, Walter Ohlson, Jack White, Walter Oschman and Connie Moran. As you can see, the bright and colorful classic Dick and Jane illustrations of the 1950's are adorable! The stories are wonderful too! The stories are divided into 5 sections: Oak Hill Neighbors Animal Friends New Storybook Friends Friends at Work Old Storybook Friends. Each section has from 5 to 10 stories. Dick, Jane and Sally are not in this reader as they stop appearing in the other second grade reader entitled Friends and Neighbors. This reader includes more stories of other friends and their families and pets. The two sections of "Storybook Friends" have cleverly illustrated folk tales and silly animal stories which add variety to this great children's vintage reader. This reader includes many of the classics that bring back great childhood memories to many Dick and Jane babyboomers. Some of the titles include: Three Blly Goats Gruff Bobby's New Shoes A Trick for Wags Little Mouse Dances The Old Woman's New Hat The Little Engine The Errand Girl The Man Who Kept House Why the Bear Has a Short Tail The First Woodpecker The Teacher's Guidebook section, as mentioned above, is 256 pages filled with advice, instructions and lesson plans for the teachers using this reader. The lesson plans include interpreting the story with guided reading, rereading, extending skills and abilities, structural analysis, phonetic analysis and meeting individual needs for each story. There are also instructions for use of the Think and Do book, a workbook which the students used to accompany this reader. This is the 1952 Edition of Dick and Jane which was referred to as the "New" Basic Readers, because they were completely revised and updated from the 1940's editions.
