In 1955, the economic miracle we celebrated the topping out ceremony for the immediately built the station square new factory building of leather goods firm Striegel & Wagner (Striwa). Other additions in 1960 were followed. Founded in 1921 as a smoke store, Striwa employed at the end of the 30s more than 400 employees, who then produced aviator uniforms and parachutes during World War 2. 1954 about a quarter of sales in Germany Leather clothing of Striwa were prepared. By 1960, the number of employees grew to 2,000. 1973 the company built on the former city hospital, between Bamberg Gate and hospital church, another, the city formative building.
