This Braid is hand woven in tablet-weaving* technique (often also called card weaving) from a super fine 100% Spun Silk Yarn 60/2 Nm and is machine washable and colourfast.

Our tablet woven Braid is recommended for Historical Re-enactment, Living History and Heritage Performers, due to it's historically accurate method of weaving and plant dyed looking colours. Use it as Trimming for your Tunic, Cloak, Hat etc. The band is very fine woven and flexible which makes it easy to hand or machine stitch.

*Tablet/card-weaving is a method of making strong, densely woven bands, which may be plain or decorative. The narrow bands worked by tablet/card weaving are commonplace in Germanic, Anglo-Saxon and Viking clothing. There was a complete tablet-weaving kit in the Oseberg ship burial, including a part-woven linen band, threaded on a set of 52 wooden tablets.
