Antique hand tools - PREMIUM QUALITY tenon saw #1:

Up for sale is a gorgeous Premium Quality HENRY DISSTON & Sons 16" Carcass Saw, freshly Hand Sharpened. 

This saw is great for a carcass saw, 16" / 405mm long & 12PPI crosscut profile with 12° of rake & 25° of fleam, 65mm deep at the toe & 72mm deep at the heel, it cuts extremely well. 

The applewood handle has some nice patches of figure to it, this saw dates from 1896-1917 & these larger 16" brass backs are not common. 

Double houndstooth handle, brass back, this is a saw from the "Golden Years" of saw manufacture 1870-1920s, when their skill was at it's zenith & the materials were high quality & makers took pride in their work & stood by their tools as a quality product, carpenters weren't using hand held circular saws yet, so they needed saws that worked well & held an edge.

This saw is for the woodworker that is happy to work unplugged, you'll know what I mean when you read this, it's like fast food vs slow food, it's getting back to the heart of woodworking & using your hands, not flicking a switch.

CONDITION

This saw is in authentic vintage condition, freshly sharpened & set, the top horn has been professionally repaired with applewood, a previous owners marks stamped into the spine, some wear & tear & small dings to the handle, the medallion & saw bolts have some saw bag rash, it's lovely saw, ready to go to work in the discerning workshop. Any blue colour that you can see on the teeth is engineers blue set out fluid used by my saw Dr to keep track of where he's filed.

* Every item or combined items with a value of more than $100 or extremely fragile items will have insurance added by Australian Post - $1.50 for every $100. 

* Every item or combined items with a value of more than $300 has an added $3 for "Signature on delivery". 

INTERNATIONAL POST:  

* $6 will be added for packing & handling 

* Import duties, taxes, and charges aren’t included in the item price or postage cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. 

* Every item or combined items with a value of more than $100 or extremely fragile items will have insurance added by Australian Post - $9.50 for the first $100 + $3 for every $100 of value added thereafter.
