The Diamond board is geared for all-around female riders. In developing our female-specific product range we worked closely with PKRA contender Bruna Kajiya, to create a board that offers perfect all-round performance for the lighter rider.
The combination of softer flex pattern, narrower relative outline, reduced weight and narrower stance are all oriented towards the female rider. This is combined with our most progressive rocker, bottom shape and construction.
The 2016 Diamond Board includes the 2016 Airush AFT Strap and Pad System, Premium G-10 Fins, and molded ergonomic board handle and hardware.

The Airush Multizone Biotech construction is a vertical wood core sandwich comprising of a dual density Balsa and Poplar core with ABS rail and tips. The higher density poplar stringer creates a hyper responsive center section while the outer balsa section minimizes the weight. Our wood cores are renowned for their response, durability and smoothness, and are combined with a versatile triaxial laminate, for all-round performance and durability.
Airush Carbon Torsion Control creates a unique performance advantage developed specifically for performance freeride boards. Traditionally higher flex boards, ideal for freeride, have significant torsional flex. The Carbon Torsion Control features bias oriented Carbon fiber along the heel edge, reducing the amount of torsional flex in this area, this allows you to ride the board flatter for increasing comfort and speed.
Featured on the Apex Team and Diamond Series series the unique Venturi Concave bottom enhanced the stability and grip of the board. This is achieved by channeling water away from the fins and concentrating the flow through the centre of the board in the tail area.
The Independent Flex Tips work in conjunction with the Carbon Torsion Control to enhance the stiffness differentiation between heel side and toe side edges. The Carbon Torsion Control stiffens the heel side edge while the independent flex tips allow the toe side edge to remain softer for carving and toeside turns.
Airush introduced FMS rating 6 years ago as the first brand to quantify how much a twintip flexes, instead of the good old “feel” test, which can be very deceptive due to the impact of the length on the overall stiffness. FMS takes into account the boards length and deflection and lower rating indicating a softer board. Softer boards are more suited to freeride, while stiffer boards are more suited to Freestyle.

What were the focuses on change for the 2016 Diamond Board?
BK- Since the board has a very comfortable ride we focused on changing other aspects to perfect the design. We focused on adding more speed and pop to the board.
What will the rider notice how it rides compared to the last year Diamond Board?
BK – The rider will notice that the board is faster with a sharper pop, improving the quality and intensity of the pop. Every trick or jump starts with the pop, that’s a key factor for a successful attempt. So we wanted to make sure the board handled that easily to the rider.
With the increase in length, will smaller riders have a harder time?
BK – Not necessarily since the board is narrower, compensating for the area on the length. It will actually help them with the pop, since they have less power to push against a wide board. With a narrower board that initial push for the pop gets much easier.
What size rider would o you recommend for the bigger and smaller Diamond board?
BK- I would recommend the 134 for most women riding straps or boots. The 131 is ideal for quite petite women under 50kg who wish to have something that can perform under their feet – unlike getting a smaller guys board which are insanely stiff, awkward stance, and width.
What do you recommend if the rider is using Boots or regular freeride?
BK – The board is versatile on that point, it rides well with both freeride straps and wakestyle boots. It was designed for freeride but I ride Boots most of the time and it works perfectly. For the Boots I usually use a stance bigger then what I use for riding straps and freeriding.
