This is an outstanding bronze casting of a fairy with a tulip. Signed Gurschner. He was an Austrian who did this sort of work from about 1895 to 1915. I would have believed this to be an original work of his because the mold marks are totally cleaned up, the work is excellent, the wire is enclosed in the lily stem and many other reasons but there is a bronze plate on the bottom that reads Renaissance Art Products, made in USA and the wiring is more modern, has an on off switch in line. The original lamp holder inside however is cardboard. But the wiring has an on off switch and is good enough to use right now. Either it is an original with the wiring changed, or it is a more recent reproduction. Either way it is outstanding.
The shade is the correct nacre color - like a chambered nautilus - and tint - like Gustav Gurschner was famous for and is special made to fit the casting.
It is 11 1/2" tall and 8 1/2" wide. Very art deco. And magnificent!
