Italian ceramic VASE with twisted bow handles to the side

Produced by FRATELLI FANCIULLACCI, Italy

Mid 20th-century

Yellow/ green ground, decorated with images of a goat, a horn, a bird, an umbrella and foliage

Signed to the base: 5552 Italy

This vase measures 18.5 cm high by 14 cm across at its widest by 8 cm deep.

It is in excellent condition with no cracks, flakes or repairs. There are small areas on the rim where the glaze hasn't taken (please see the photographs) but most Fanciullacci items have small blemishes as they are made from such a soft material. There are the usual tiny areas that are slightly pitted and where the glaze is thin, but this is typical of Italian ceramics of this era. Again, please see the photographs for an accurate assessment. There is slight internal grubbiness.

Italian ceramics, of this era, are becoming increasingly collectable. Examples of the output of Fratelli Fanciullacci are featured strongly in my Mark Hill's excellent book on the subject "Alla Moda."
