Antique 1910/20 French lace Nightgown pure linen Never used from wedding trousseau.


This full length gown is an exceptional vintage French nightgown ('chemise de nuit ") for the fine quality of the linen fabric and for hand made fine tape lace and hand sewn dress construction. 

Made of the finest whitest linen ,

-fine handmade lace insertion and trim, -hand done minute threadwork, 

-the finest pintucks on shoulders as well as 

-4 groupings of larger ones around the waist,and 

-tulle edging , 

this magnificent full length  nightgown beauty from edwardian Paris  was never used (Washed twice) 


CONDITION: is very good vintage.


MEASURES of the full length nightgown/ dress:

-SHOULDER TO SH:Cut at one with the body, (no shoulder seam) measures from edge of sleeve cap across to other sleeve edge: 28"

-Armpit to Armpit :22" if large pintucks are ironed flat to the shoulder,like they would have been at the time.

chest: to 42"

-Waist: uncut , the waist is delineated with 4 groups of 6 large pin tucks , (which also create the bustline)

to 40" waistline.

-total length From shoulder to hem: 50"1/2

-bottom hem width:69".

I  cannot truly assign an actual size to this  vintage item ,but have to  say that the full length gown is of an generous 'medium' to 'large' size uk 14/16 

Probably part of a wedding trousseau, I acquired this unique and rare textile at a flea market in the South of France last summer.
