Cobalt Blue Guthrie “Beach Glass” Sterling Silver Wire Wrapped Pendant This pendant is hand-crafted with 22 gauge sterling silver square wire and a piece of glass collected from Guthrie, KY. Cobalt is not a color I find often! The pendant measures 3/4" x 1-3/4". The photo is enlarged to show detail. Guthrie, KY is an old historic railroad town, littered with glass bottles and jars dating as far back as the 1800's. The only problem is that 99.99% of them are broken! They can be seen in colorful and patterned pieces scattered all over town, washing up here and there whenever there is a large amount of rain, along with occasional unbroken treasures. I collect the more interesting pieces of glass, tumble them with carbide grit to remove the sharp and irregular edges, and wrap them into history that you can wear! These pieces are tumbled to create a beach glass appearance but are not really beach glass. I guarantee that every piece of glass labeled "Guthrie Glass" was collected from the ground of Guthrie, KY. |
