This is a vintage Chimayo wool weaving. Chimayo is a small village in New Mexico where the tradition of hand weaving on a loom began with two Mexican families back in the 1800s. This is a finely woven vintage weaving. It has an elegant design in green, orange and yellow against a cream white background. This weaving measures 40.5" including the 2" fringe by 46.5 wide. It looks like this was once a longer blanket size and was cut off and hemmed with a soft satin blanket tape to create a weaving that could be hung on the wall. This weaving is in great condition - there are no stains or holes and all of the selvages are intact. It will make a wonderful vintage piece to hang for display.
