F Dick miniature Salesman's Sample Butchers' Steel
Rare miniature Old Vintage F DICK butchers steel. Could possibly have been a salesman's sample.  The trademark arrow, pointing towards the handle,  F Dick name  and Made in Germany are etched in the steel. These miniatures were given to people employed in the large American meat packing companies and similar steels can be marked Armour & Co or Swift Dick also made miniature cleaver's, scimitar's and hand meat saws, usually with a bloodstone handle. These were often used as butchers themed decoration on a pocket watch fob chain. See photos for detail.
 This 1900's? bygone could suit a steel collector. Made in Germany by the revered maker, Friedrich Dick who were founded in 1778 and started making sharpening steels in 1873 under the direction of Paul Friedrich Dick. Almost 2" blade.  3" overall length including handle and hanging ring.
