The original, peel and stick, iris dot. It is designed to stick directly on the front of your shooting glasses. If your distance vision is good, these .080 inch, dots will sharpen up your sights too. They will help you improve your shooting scores. Great for everyone, young or old. I first started making the dots, back in the early 2000's. Through trial and error, the correct size, for both hole and outside diameter was perfected. The .080 inch hole size, and 3/8 inch OD is the result from my R&D. The first sale on eBay was back in January 2009.
In order for the .080" dot to function correctly, that is sharpen up your sights, Your distance vision must be good, close to 20/20 uncorrected, or corrected ( by prescription glasses, Lazer surgery, or contacts). If you can see the distant target clearly, then your eye, while viewing that target, through my dot, will also see the gun sights, clearly, too. As we age, our eyes loose the ability to focus both near and far. Now you will be able to correctly align the gun to the target. I can not guarantee that you will always hit that target. Many other factors besides sight alignment, are in simultaneus play. I can  guarantee that your brain will see any of the these issues, far easier.
Initially developed as a visual assist for my N-SSA (North- South Skirmish Association) competition shooting, they have proved an asset in other shooting venues as well. While N-SSA competition is with primitive Civil War, open sights, I have found the .080 dots also effective for peep sights, red dots (makes the dot, round, instead of oblong), and scopes (no parallax).
Are there any negatives to the .080" dots? Yes, a few. The view through the dot is slightly darker, than the surrounding light to your eye. This is not apparent or an issue, in normal daylight (bright or cloudy) shooting conditions. Dawn and dusk though, are a problem for the .080" dots. I now need to wear prescription, distance glasses, for driving. The .080 dots on my driving glasses, are also a necessity (for open sight, shooting), to clearly see the sights too. My solution has been to start late, and end early, when hunting with primitive open sights!
There is little benefit from the .080" dots in Fast action, shotgun shooting, (trap, skeet, sporting clays, upland field hunting). Valuable time will be lost in target  acquisition. During practice, though, I found that the .080 dot assisted in letting me know if I was lifting my head during the swing, also making sure that my shooting eye was actually tracking the target. These issues led to development of the .125" dot. This dot aperture is larger than the .080, and will not sharpen the sights as well as the .080. The view, though is bright enough for low light fast shooting. Target acquisition is quick, and the benefits of the visual assist, keeping my head down, and proper tracking on target, are still present.
