If your GoPro has the long rectangular connection on the back, then simply plug this in and click once to begin recording. Hold for three seconds to stop. 

The cable can be as long or short as you like. 

This is only for use with the GoPro HD Hero3 White Edition and the GoPro HD Hero2. 

It does work with Hero 3 blacks too. The 3 black and 3+ black will turn on and start recording with one push of the button (that can be mounted to the dash in the car) The 3+ does not turn off with a hold like the 3 white does, but starting the camera and recoding is the most important part.
