Rare
antique Wedgwood yellow caneware Pie Game Covered Dish with the original insert and
the rabbit handle. The raised relief is very
impressive. The lid (with two steam holes, pics. 3 & 10) has a rabbit handle
surrounded by four groups of game birds and rabbits. The side of the dish
features six groups of partridges and snipes hanging with clusters of
grapes. The condition is excellent There
are one small chip on the lid (pics. 10 & 11) and two crossing hairline cracks
inside, which do not go through the interior of the base and could be manufacturing defects (pics.
8, 9 & 12, please take a close look and let me know – would be happy to
send additional pics). Dish is glazed only inside. Insert
(almost fully glazed) has some stain (pics. 4,5 & 7). I could not find any
other defects and/or repairs, but please feel free to contact me with any questions.
