NO SHIPPING - TO BE PICKED UP ONLY Can be picked up  at the  Lebanon and  Hamburg, Pa Model  Shows In March.   See " You-Tube "  video:     (I.R.C.H.A. 2009- Kirk Nelson-1970 Dubro "Shark" ) to actually see one of these O&R Compact powered vintage copters being flown !    Being offered as a " Collectors Item "  Designed by Dave Gray ,influenced by the Enstrom F-28 Shark, and manufactured by  Du-Bro Products Inc. , a American  pioneer in the radio controlled model helicopter hobby,  1968-1970  One of the first US commercially made gasoline powered RC helicopters kits, first introduced in 1974 with a price of  $350.00 ( less RC equipment ). An all aluminum, steel, brass, plastic   and wood, bolt together construction kit, with a  Ohlson & Rice , pull start gas engine.( commonly used to power small generators and large RC Boats like the 1958 White Heat )   Being Offered , " as found "  in an attic, stored since last flown in the 1970's. In need of restoration or to be displayed " as-is" , ( a early  example  of  US manufactured   R/C helicopter  history.) Engine internals  and drive line condition unknown, but seems to have never been damaged. Interior and exterior have heavy fuel and oil stains,as the  O&R's engines were  known for  spitting fuel from the carb , poor crankshaft seals and poor reed valves.   FACTORY  SPEC'S  from Du-Bro's original 1974  ad:   Length = 53", width at skids = 14", passenger compartment = 6", height = 22 1/2", 2 piece plastic body, clear plastic windows and canopy. (yellowed with age) steel, aluminum and brass components. Engine: Ohlson & Rice 1.34ci, head reworked by Du-bro  for a glow plug (not large spark plug) a Du-Bro special R/C carburetor, pull start, gear box and clutch are one unit. Main rotor (wood) span = 52 1/4", Chord = 2". Airfoil high lift section Hiller type semi-ridged tail rotor (wood) = 11 1/2". fly bar span = 28 1/2". fly bar weights extended aluminum. Flying weight with fuel = 14lbs. Additional payload approx 5 lbs. Top speed forward estimated at 70mph. Dives, Zooms, does stall turns, vertical banks, snap tail turns, flies forward or backwards or side to side, can rise and hover over one spot. ( This is how the DuBro Co.  represented this kit  ,  not us ! )   There are 3 servo's wired and mounted, they seem to be old Futaba " linear's " , # FP-52 , a receiver and a Deac battery with a on-off switch.   The Transmitter / Controller  most likely was a early 70's FUTABA  RipMax- Digimax 4 channel ?  A large fuel tank  ( common tin can) is mounted under the servo's. The plastic body is  not painted, and is screwed to wood framing, has some (chipped off) missing plastic, cracks, and some warpage, especially along the bottom .The clear plastic windows have turned yellow with age, and  have  brown glue or fuel stains around the edges. The O&R engine is gummed up (pull cord is tight, and we are not forcing anything to move at this time ) still has it's plastic fuel lines, hardened  from age, and  some old  foam insulation protecting the R/C electrics. Rubber tires only fair. Additional items included ( shown in photo's.)  Looks complete as last flown less transmitter.  (Very difficult to fly, even when new out of the box !, mostly due to it's fixed pitch, no gyros and it's " excessive " weight)  but this one has obviously been flown or at least started ? . Note:  We are not selling  "parts"  off  it... or putting it on a Gray Hound bus ! TRADES  my two  partners and myself collect many things and are always interested in 1940's tether race cars and wood hydroplane racing  boats, ignition model engines and parts, also early 90's  large 1/4 scale gas, R/C drag cars. (Funny Cars)   Pick up at  Adamstown PA- Adams Antique Co-op area, near the Morphy's Auction House , Rt. 272  at exit 286, Pa. Turnpike (Reading-Lancaster Exit ).
