For Sale:

Here I have for sale my own trusty Pioneer PL 630 Turntable, I have owned this deck for well over 10 years, and it was a classic when I bought it! It is now over 40 years of age and has served me faultlessly - I am only selling as I now have a Pioneer PL-7L, which took me years to track down a decent one.

This deck does have age related marks on the Perspex cover, I was going to buy a replacement aftermarket unit, but it really isn't that bad in my eyes, but I may have just got used to it!

It comes with the Shure M44-7 Cart and a brand new stylus, as well as the nearly new one attached AND it also comes with a spare Pioneer PL 630 Magnesium head unit with a BRAND new audiophile M97-EX cartridge and stylus. I purchased this for use with my new deck, but the fittings are not quite right for the ceramic arm, so I fitted it to the spare head unit and that is as far as I got. The spare head unit cost over 90GBP second hand, and the M97 was 100GBP

All styli and head units and cartridges are included in this sale as I will have no use for them, but the new owner will, and be very pleased with the result. The M44-7 is a good tracking cartridge and produces nice bass range, the M97x is more 'detailed' from the reports I have read (I haven't tried it out yet!)

I will even include the record clamp as it looks great with this TT

The good points are that the deck works as it should, all the functions in auto mode work, and in manual.
The only bad issue is sometimes the deck speed will vary when in adjustable pitch mode, this only happens occasionally, and turning the quartz lock function on brings it back to an immediate and stable speed. This issue has been there for years, I never adjust the pitch, but often leave in that mode only because I like the look of the gauge lit up!

This is a very solid turntable, no plastic here, it weighs in at over 12kg!

If I was going to keep this deck I would source a new Perspex lid, (there are no cracks in the original, just cleaning marks), and I would be sending the deck for a full service, not because it is  working not to specification, but because it is 40 years of age.

Any questions please feel free to ask

Collection and demonstration preferred method, but I will post out under duress (TT's are notoriously difficult to post, but I have posted a few around the world without incident!)
