Issued to Mr. Edward Collins, numbered 162936 (sum of 9 when you add all the numbers), with printed signature of Eamon de Valera (unusually spelt "de Bhailéara") as "President of the Elected Government of The Republic of Ireland".

Dimensions: 5¾ x 9in. (14.61 x 22.86cm)

Issued to raise funds for Dáil Éireann. Éamon de Valera, the president of the first Dáil, issued this bond in 1920 during the War of Independence. While on his American tour, de Valera raised over five million dollars through the sale of republican bonds. In the aftermath of the Irish Civil War, a dispute arose regarding the money raised by the earlier sale of the republican bonds in America. De Valera claimeed the funds on behalf of his party. The Free State government, under President William T. Cosgrave, also claimed the funds. While the Irish High Court remitted half the funds to the Irish government, the other half remained on deposit in New York. In 1927, the New York Supreme Court ruled for neither Cosgrave nor de Valera and ordered that the balance of the funds be returned to the original subscribers.

You will get exactly the same Bond as you see in the picture.

I am a private collector (not a shop or the dealer). Currently, I am selling a part of my collection to fund other numismatic acquisitions.  I also have other banknotes on ebay, so have a look at my 'Seller's Other items'.

FEEDBACK ? I have tried playing it by the rules, i.e. that if you pay me I leave feedback regardless, but unfortunately that leaves the buyer under no obligation whatsoever to leave me feedback. I can?t make a buyer leave me feedback once I have done the deed. So, all purchases will achieve feedback if feedback is left for me (and IT WILL BE POSITIVE if I have been paid even if the goods are returned). I hope any dispute will be resolved via Ebay first before either of us considers bad feedback. I am fair and reasonable
