SALE WILL BE FINAL!

This is a Canon 50mm f1.8 lens for Leica Thread Mount cameras. There are no scratches or "cleaning marks" on the glass, and the aperture clicks easily into places at all settings. Cosmetically, the lens is good. There are a few places on the focusing ring where paint has worn off, but this is typical for a lens of this vintage. Focusing is smooth and accurate, but occasionally, when focusing up close--between the 3.5ft and 8ft marks--the dampening stutters. It's not a mechanical issue; it feels like the helicoid might need to be relubricated. There is no fungus in this lens.

There is one issue:

A common occurrence with this lens model is that the internal element behind the iris can be a collection point for lubrication and, over time, if left unchecked, can etch the coating of that element. Such damage has occurred to this lens. This was the case when I purchased it, and while the lubricant appears to have been cleaned off, the coating damage is done and cannot be corrected. It's very noticeable when doing a flashlight test, but I've never noticed an ill effect from it in my photographs; they have always been sharp with good contrast. If you need peace of mind, I am happy to show you some images made with this lens. Keep in mind that all of my photos were shot on film. I do not have any experience using this lens on a digital camera so I have no idea if the this issue will have any noticeable effect.

The lens will be shipped with front and rear lens caps.

Please ask all questions and examine all photos carefully before making your purchase. This lens is about 60 years old and I've described it to the best of my knowledge and experience in using it. It is being sold as is with no returns.
