Many things can be said about the pony car that you see pictured here. It is the product of a Mid West collector who invoked upon a no holds barred meticulous restoration that took a great deal of time to complete.

At any rate it was originally delivered in Bastrop Texas. Luckily the car would remain there for 23 plus years (SUPER ROCK SOLID more about that later).

 From the previous owners perspective it has always been stored & cherished (accident free vehicle)!

This particular fastback was off the road for many years. It still only had a hair over 51,000 miles on it in 1981 when she came out of storage (53k now).   

By all accounts the lion’s share of the restoration was performed by a high profile shop in Missouri.

The fit and finish is very impressive so it is easy to appreciate the cars overall appearance.   

This Mustang has many attributes that make it a fan favorite. The Gloss Black exterior shines at any given time of day and almost looks wet in some instances! Being a harsh critic makes it difficult for me to consider most exterior finishes show quality that being said you will have no problem holding your head high when you’re behind the wheel of this one.

 The chrome accents that are sprinkled throughout provide excellent contrast and the body lines are true to factory specs.

The total picture is quite striking and can’t help but make you the envy of all (when you’re cruising)!     

Attention to detail is evident when inspecting the work performed over the circumference of the body.

There is absolutely no damage to speak of.

A bold RACE READY hood scoop has been wonderfully mated to the factory lid.

On each door sits a nostalgic sport racing mirror with refurbished glass.

New chrome bumpers both front & rear have been installed with updated hardware.       

Revisions of Route 66 will always be in play thanks in part to the rear spoiler (securely fashioned with new hardware “flawless”)!

All of the corresponding trim & bright work happens to be in excellent condition as well.

(New marker lights, back up lights, etc).

Wonderfully fashioned on each fender is a bold Cobra emblem that peaks the interest of all!   

Argent silver GT style racing stripes grace the body line along with the concave side scoops that quickly give away the brands identity. 

A menacing front chin spoiler leads the way up front which has been attached with O.E.M. hardware.      

A superior Ford sanctioned SUPER SNAKE was used to christen the grille before it was released!

The car was really buttoned up nicely “commendable quality investment”!

“TAKE A CLOSER LOOK”      

Upon opening the door of this custom pony you will find a subtle ebony black interior that compliments the exterior nicely.

Almost every stitch of it has either been replaced or refurbished. The standard black front buckets are in pristine condition along with the head rest that are married to them. A near perfect bench seat rest in back. When they were restored new cushions and extra padding was added to both (comfortable).

Updated loop pile carpet is sealed to the chassis.   A FLAME RED set of Cobra embossed floor mats adds just the right touch (amazing contrast)!

Each door panel is in superior shape and has new hardware attached as well (door cups, knobs, cranks, etc).

The front dash pad is ready for another 50 years of enjoyment (great shape).   

All of the gauges seem to functioning as they should.

Cockpit illumination is optimal “all interior lights work as they should”.

Up front you will find a sharp custom steering wheel with working horn to grip. There is also a nice packing tray located in the back.

All of the glass (front to rear) is damage free and well presented.

ORIGINAL DRIVE TRAIN 53K MILES! 

NO MUSTANG CAN BE TRULY CONSIDERED A FREE RUNNING STALLION WITHOUT HAVING A FACTORY V/8!        

Thankfully Ford didn’t buck the trend when this one was assembled. The factory F-Code 302 can still be found underneath the hood.

The block itself received a makeover of sorts in 2014. Preventative maintenance has also been addressed accordingly.  

Horsepower ratings from the factory for these cars were decent however several new internal components make it much more exciting to drive!   

An original cast iron intake still sits atop the block and a rebuilt Ford Mo Co carburetor distributes the fuel.

Dependability is a cinch thanks in part to new Motorcraft plugs, Auto lite wires & voltage regulator.

The belts have been replaced along with both radiator hoses. A Duralast solenoid takes the place of the original one.  

To top things off the radiator has been replaced with the water pump & thermostat.

 A set of matching Powered by Ford Blue Oval valve covers & an original Ford air cleaner further enhances the engine bay.

Hardened valves seats have been installed so the vehicle can burn unleaded fuel “an important aspect that many fail to do”! No short cuts were taken a new gas tank has also been installed.

The decision was made late in the restoration process to add modern power steering equipment to enhance its drivability! 

An infectious growl trumpets out back by the aid of dual exhaust & performance mufflers!  

This car is simply a blast to drive & it sounds incredible when the throttle is engaged!

Tucked underneath each corner is a blinding triple chrome 17 inch mag wheel! All are in excellent condition without a single scratch “absolutely no curb rash”!

Spank brand new Z rated performance tires hug the metal! 

The total set up produces a picture of performance and customization that works well on this particular model! COMPLIMENTS AT EVERY CORNER!      

There are a litany new suspension parts so handling is wonderful (user friendly).

All of the small details make this pony special! People even find the trunk mat interesting.

Again this vehicle is ready to be enjoyed fully!   The time, resources and labor hours spent to formulate what has been produced can’t be properly measured “rare opportunity”! 

Here’s yet more good news “she’s just as nice underneath”! Expect to find rock solid, frame, floor boards & drop offs.

You will be hard pressed to find a classic Mustang more structurally sound than this 53k mile beauty!
